production design, video sculpture programming, custom circuitry N64 operation
Working with Philadelphia based band Courier Club and artist Michael Silverglade, we devised a seven TV sculpture to be the centerpiece of their video for "Foreign Ground". With Michael having sourced the TV's and constructed the housing, I devised a system whereby two VCR's, two Eurorack modules, a processed live feed from a Hi8 camcorder, and an N64 running through custom circuitry could be displayed at once, without the need for a computer. Working with the band, I took clips from their old music videos, lyrics from "Foreign Ground", 60s Soviet variety shows, classic sci-fi, and created a balanced and intriguing wall of content for them to perform in front of, and was on site for all 3 days of shooting to operate it. Closeups of my work on the TV's were later used for promotional materials throughout the video's lifecycle.
